Drewno Pilarscy

Steamed beech timber

Steamed beech timber from the Drewno Pilarscy S.C. sawmill in Sulęcin (Lubusz). Grade AB, 28 and 52 mm, unedged.

A pack of unedged boards with the grade marked on the end

Steaming evens out the colour of beech and gives it the characteristic warm, pinkish tone right through the section. Without it the boards tend to be patchy.

Beech is hard and uniform, turns and bends well, so it goes into furniture parts, legs, backs and turned goods. Tell us the size and quantity and we will reply with availability.

Questions about steamed beech timber

What is the difference between steamed and unsteamed beech?

Steaming is a heat treatment with water vapour. It evens the colour through the whole section and gives the wood a warmer, pinkish tone, so material within a batch is more consistent.
