Lamination gives an element that is more dimensionally stable than solid wood of the same section: stresses are distributed between the lamellas, so the material moves less as humidity changes.
Layer-glued elements are made to size, in lengths and sections agreed with the customer. The material is dried before gluing and the moisture content is stated in the order confirmation.

Questions about layer-glued timber
How does layer-glued timber differ from solid?+
Mainly in appearance: you can see the element is built up from lamellas. Solid timber is harder to make, because it needs material of the right grade with the right grain orientation, which significantly affects the price, so it goes mostly into premium products. An element glued across the thickness keeps its strength class, higher than that of finger-jointed glued wood.
